The international governing body of Equestrian Sport
recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
It is the organization, which establishes rules and regulations

of the health and welfare of the horses taking part as
well as the respect of the principles of horsemanship.

Three Day Events/ Championships

NAYRC:

NAYRC began in 1974 as an Eventing challenge
between the United States and Canada.
A Dressage Championship was added in 1981, and Show
Jumping was added in 1982. The first complete NAYRC
was held in British Columbia, Canada in 1982.
The NAYRC was first held at Tempel Farms in 1985.
The 2006 Championships marks the 17th time
Tempel Farms has hosted the event.

The Four Star International Three-Day Event
is the highest level of competition in the sport,
reserved for World Championships and Olympic Games
and only four annual competitions each year.

Badminton:

It was the 10th Duke of Beaufort - Master - whose idea
it was to hold an event in his Gloucestershire Park in order that
British riders could train for future international events.
The first event was held in 1949.

Burghley:

It was in 1961 that the Marquess of Exeter, on hearing
that the autumn three-day event at Harewood
could no longer be held, invited the British Horse
Society to transfer the event to his estate.
In its second year, 1962, Burghley ran the FEI.'s European
Championship and this was the beginning
of a remarkable record. No other international horse
trials site has staged as many Championships, a record ten
in all including the first World Championship in 1966.
